NEW YORK, USA, 13 October 2009 — Twelve finalists were announced this week in the UNICEF-sponsored video contest celebrating the 20th anniversary of the the Convention of the Rights of the Child (CRC), which spells out the basic human rights of children everywhere.

In response to a call for submissions, young people from around the
globe created one-minute videos about what child rights mean to them.

Finalist Dobrota Andreia of Romania found that the experience taught her a lot about herself.

“Children’s rights is something I used to know nothing about. I know now that I didn’t have the chance to make use of all my rights. I wonder how different I would be if I had,” she said.

Lors d’un débat télévisé consacré le 9 octobre à la peine de mort,
le professeur de droit slovène Dragan Petrovec a déclaré que les victimes ne devraient jouer aucun rôle dans la condamnation des délinquants. ”La victime n’est jamais objective”, a-t-il ajouté, et ”
les victimes ne peuvent s’ériger en juge”. L’ambassadeur suédois
des droits de l’homme, Jan Axel Nordlander, a également pris part à ce débat organisé par le Conseil de l’Europe à l’occasion de la Journée européenne contre la peine de mort. Jeroen Schokkenbroek, chef de Service au Conseil de l’Europe, a précisé que l’Organisation se montrait critique à l’égard du recours à la peine de mort par les
États-Unis et le Japon, en ajoutant que ”le dialogue se poursuivait” avec les deux pays pour mettre un terme à cette pratique.

Le Président de l’APCE évoque un « devoir de vigilance » pour maintenir la paix

Strasbourg, 25.09.2009 – « Nous ne pouvons pas tenir la paix pour acquise, même sur notre continent », a déclaré le Président de l’APCE, M. Luis Maria de Puig, à la clôture d’un forum de l’APCE sur l’alerte précoce dans la prévention des conflits qui s’est tenu pendant deux jours, à Strasbourg. « L’Assemblée se doit de mettre la paix, et le maintien de la paix, au cœur même de ses travaux […]. Nous avons un devoir de vigilance.»

Les participants au forum, en partie créé en réaction à la guerre entre la Géorgie et la Russie il y a un an, ont recommandé que les parlementaires axent leurs efforts sur l’adoption de mesures politiques propres à éviter les conflits et ont affirmé que le Conseil devait instituer un mécanisme rassemblant tous ceux qui participent à différentes actions d’« alerte précoce ».

Le forum n’a été qu’un « point de départ » qui conduira à des initiatives concrètes en temps voulu », a ajouté le Président.

am fost mai mult decât surprins:
am rămas tablou -
uşa biroului era lipită de sus până jos
cu buchete de baloane aprinse ca zorii…
Sus, între baloane – o crizantemă,
la mijlocul uşii – o foae pe care era scris:
La Mulţi Ani, Dany!
Şi nici o semnătură…
Şi toată lumea de la
Uniunea Muzicienilor,
de la Uniunea Teatrală,
de la Cineaşti priveau uimiţi…
Am întrebat de dl Andrei Tamazlâcaru,
vecin cu biroul, poate a văzut
cine a făcut acestă frumoasă minune…
Nu cunoştea…
Am încercat să ghicesc în gând
cine dintre tinerii noştri poate fi atât de ingenios…

Vasile Macovei? – e la filmări cu Fabrica de staruri…

Trebuie să mai meditez un pic.
